4. Teach English in Romania with Bredex

Are you interested in visiting Romania over the summer? BREDEX is currently
looking for participants to teach English in the country.

Bredex is a student-run organisation aiming to offer free lessons in
conversational English to Romanian people.

Students from participating British Universities are selected each year to
spend five or seven week placements in our participating Romanian
Universities where they are given free accommodation in return for teaching
lessons.

Teaching dates this year run from 13th July to either the 15th or 29th
August with an induction weekend in Bucharest from the 11th July. Those on
the seven week placement have a week's holiday in the middle (2nd-10th
August), giving you a chance to explore other areas of the country and
Eastern Europe.

Teaching is approximately 3 hours a day and no prior experience is needed.
This is a great opportunity to experience the country and get to know some
friendly locals as well as students from other UK universities.

If you're interested or for more information please contact
bredexuk@yahoo.co.uk or visit the website at
http://www.geocities.com/bredexuk/

5. Fundraising for scouts

Two easy and free ways to help your local scout groups raise much needed funds

Scout groups are volunteer run organisations improving the lives of
young people across the world by giving them access to a whole host of
activities and giving them responsibility for themselves and others. We
receive no central funding and other than our members' subs (which we
endeavour to keep low to encourage wider participation) we must
fundraise to raise the necessary funds to continue to run. Here are two
completely free and very easy methods to help us raise funds for two
local groups which Pembroke students help run.

1. Active Kids vouchers from Sainsburys. We all shop there, so why not
get a bit of extra of value from your shopping and pick up the free
Active Kids vouchers you are entitled to for every £10 you spend.
Indeed if you are particularly charming, mention you're helping local
scouts or just smile sweetly the checkout assistants will often give you
extra ones. Each voucher's worth approximately 20p but with over 400
people in college all shopping weekly you can see how this could add
up. There is a bright box in the plodge for your vouchers - don't
forget to ask for them next time you are in Sainsburys! The vouchers
will be split between the groups which Dan (das69) and myself (ejg52)
are attached.

2. Easyfundraising.com. By registering with this website for free (all
you need to give it is your name, e-mail and the cause you are
supporting - here 28th Cambridge Scout Group) and doing your online
shopping at sites such as amazon, eBay or many others by first visiting
easyfundraising you will be able to make a donation of upto 15% of your
purchase value FOR FREE. There are also loads of exclusive offers and
even free donations for trialing sites and/or products for free. What
could be easier. Please register today!

Finally, if anyone is interested in joining the adventure, escaping the
bubble for a couple of hours a week and contributing to the wider life
of the city we live in, feel very free to ask Dan or myself how you can
get involved.

6. CU Entrepreneurs: Join the committee

Join the Cambridge University Entrepreneurs Committee 2008-9!

Have you ever wanted to work for yourself or find out how to run a business? CUE can give you the experience and network you need.

CUE is run by Cambridge students, supported by a board of industrial experts, and organises one of the most successful business competitions in the world. Over the years we've raised and given out more than £300k to new businesses which began as ideas within the university. Those ideas became real companies worth over £40 million. Many of our committee alumni are now involved in their own start-ups and we're looking for exceptional people from all courses and backgrounds to make next year even better.

If you want to be part of the organising committee for 2008-9 then send an email to recruitment@cue.org.uk along with your CV and times that you would be available to meet.
