1. University Challenge
As well as hoping you're getting incredibly keen for Pembroke hitting your screens for Round 2, on behalf of last year's University Challenge (who's now off in the other place...) it's become my responsibility to find next year's team, and hope they can become the second Pembroke team ever to get past the first Round. For that we need you! We're looking to put together a fantastic team of 5 (including 1 reserve) to represent Pembroke. To make sure we fulfill the requirements set down by University Challenge and Pembroke, we also need to ensure we have at least 1 girl, 1 boy, 1 Arts and 1 Science. Unfortunately, we've not got much time to do it, so try-outs will be:
TODAY (SUNDAY 20th)in the JP at 2 p.m. and TOMORROW (MONDAY 21st) in the JP at 5 p.m.
If you're really keen, but know neither time would do, please email me (etb30) and I'll see what we can do.
Good Luck (Jezza's amazing)
Edd Bankes

2. Stokes Society
Join the Stokes Society on Wednesday 23rd November at 9pm in the Nihon room for another interesting talk.
Careers Evening: Summer Research Internships
Free for members/£1 non-members. Wine and nibbles provided.
Come and listen to a group of students fresh from their own research internships this summer talking about their personal experiences. Learn about the entire process, from where to apply and what to look for in an internship to the lab work and projects you can expect to be involved in. We aim to shed some light on why a research internship might be a good idea and what you can expect to get out of it. Driven by students grateful for the experiences they have enjoyed both internationally and in Cambridge, this careers evening is specifically designed to provide some valuable firsthand advice and encourage more people to take up some of the fantastic summer research internship opportunities on offer. Bringing a pen and paper is advisable.

8. The Illegals
Actors for Human Rights hosted by Student Action for Refugees
On Wednesday 23rd November
At 7.30pm, followed by free drinks reception
In the Latimer Room, Clare College
Who are the ‘illegals’? Why are they here? What do they do?
This powerful piece of theatre presents personal accounts from undocumented migrants living and working in London. This particularly derided and misunderstood category of migrants comprises some 750,000 people, currently living in precarious circumstances by virtue of being outside of any formal system. By presenting the diverse and illuminating experiences of these undocumented migrants, The Illegals gives a platform to the individuals behind the stereotype.
