2. Burns Night Ceilidh
Saturday 26th January 9.30-11.30
Come and celebrate the birthday of Scotland's national poet in the only
way
possible - by dancing like crazy in a circle! Next Saturday the
University
Ceilidh Band will be coming to a venue near you (otherwise known as
Pembroke Main Hall) for the annual Burns Night Ceilidh. If you enjoyed
the
Fresher's Ceilidh or missed out on/can't remember it then this is the
perfect opportunity to have another go at the best sport this side of
the
border! What's more it's after formal as well, for anyone who requires
their fix of gowns and fellows beforehand!
Tickets are £5 each and include two free glasses of wine, though other
refreshments will be available. They can be bought on the door, but
numbers
are VERY limited so booking in advance is advisable! To buy tickets,
please
contact either David Baker (db409) or RAG reps Ralph and Oskar (ojib2).
Tartan wearing compulsory.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Fresher Flu Survey
COUGH? COLD? SORE THROAT? Each term, hundreds of people in the
University come down with coughs, colds, and maybe even influenza
(which
all get put under the blanket heading of "freshers' flu"). If you
become
infected with anything "flu-like" at any point this term, then
Cambridge
scientists studying the spread of infectious diseases want to hear from
you; go to www.freshersflu.com to fill in a short (2 minutes, max)
survey about yourself (College, course, housing arrangements, that sort
of thing) and enter a prize draw to win some fine wines from the
Emmanuel College cellars. Last term almost 1000 infections were
reported, with Natscis and the good people of Catz coming top of the
table - see for yourself at freshersflu.com.

5. Writers wanted for Pembroke Street
If you're the least bit interested in submitting something fun, or
funny, or opinionated, or informative, or whatever, to your college
magazine, do let me know - Will Pinkney wep22. It's always great fun to
do, and it gives a vain thrill to see your pearls of wisdom in print.
Most contributors originally like the idea of writing an article but are
unsure what to write about. Never fear, my team of editors and I are
full of suggestions. Just email me and I'll send you reams of
possibilities, and put you in touch with an editor who'll give you many
more. Arts! Sports! College affairs! Give us your opinions.
Please please please consider writing if you are a GRAD, and are
therefore criminally under-represented in this WHOLE-COLLEGE
publication!
Do something about it and email me if you're interested in forwarding
any kind of contribution.
If your talents lie in photography, again, let me know if you're
interested in contributing.
Thanks,
Will Pinkney, wep22

10. Cambridge Interns agency
Cambridge Interns’ was recently set up to provide Cambridge
Undergraduates with internships at Management Consultancy firms.
Internships have become increasingly popular for two major reasons:
firstly, they are a great way to experience a career and therefore help
you make the decision of what you want to do when you graduate;
secondly, they provide you with valuable experience, strengthening your
employability regardless of which career you wish to pursue.
Cambridge Interns’ will help you to find an internship to suit your
needs. The management consultancy firms chosen will offer placements
with real experience, and will allow a true assessment of what a career
in management consultancy would offer. The length of internship will be
flexible, although an eight week programme will be standard. Most of the
internships offered will be based in London, although requests for other
locations will be considered.
If you are interested in applying for Cambridge Interns please email
your CV and a covering letter to nickpatterson@cambridgeinterns.co.uk.
Applications are open to all undergraduates. The covering letter should
explain what attributes you would offer a Management Consultancy firm
and what type of firm you are looking for (industry, location etc.).
