1. Keeping Pembroke Great

Dear Friends,

I cannot thank you enough for everyone's help with the schools visits
this week. Our Schools Liaison Officer Clemency sent me an email
personally to thank us for our fantastic work. She said the schools gave
her a massive round of applause because of the quality of the visit.
Here are some comments from the kids -
"Speaking to the students was just inspirational"
"I love it here"
"I can't believe you live here - you are so lucky"

It's true guys - we are really lucky... So why don't you spread this by
helping out on one of our visits next week...

5. Caius FilmSoc: Being John Malkovich

Welcome FilmSoc Lovers!

The first film is up and it's Being John Malkovitch:

Have you ever wanted to be someone else? How about a movie star? Craig Schwartz, a puppeteer in need of work, has discovered a door that allows him to inhabit the body of movie legend John Malkovitch. For 15 minutes he can occupy the mind of this Hollywood celebrity before being ejected onto the New Jersey turnpike.

John Cusack and Cameron Diaz go against type as the awkward puppeteer and wife in a twisted creation from the creators of Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine and Jackass the Movie.

Saturday 17th, 8pm in the Bateman Auditorium, Gonville & Caius College. There will be a small charge of £2, tickets will be available on the door.

6. The Hub: Re-freshers' Tea Party

Thursday 22nd October, 3.30pm-5.30pm
Chetwynd Room, King's College

Interested in social or environmental issues? Want to get involved with charitable, ethical, campaigning or volunteering activities in Cambridge but don't know where to start? Then come along to the Hub's Re-Freshers Tea Party to get informed, connected, inspired and involved!
Taking place just a couple of weeks after the huge and hectic Freshers Fair, this is a perfect opportunity to (re-)connect with the Hub's member groups in a smaller and more relaxed setting with lots of free tea, coffee and cakes. We have over thirty five member groups (including The Café Project, CUiD, Amnesty International, RAG, Stop AIDS, EWB, People and Planet and many more) so whatever you're interested in, there's bound to be something that suits you!
Even if you're not sure about how you might like to get involved, do come along for some refreshments and a chat, and be sure to bring your friends too! For more info please see http://cambridgehub.org/teaparty09 or http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=142217066970&index=1.
The Cambridge Hub is a student-run network with over thirty five member groups which aims to coordinate and raise the profile of charitable, ethical, campaigning and volunteering activities in Cambridge University. Through our website, weekly email bulletins and social networking events, we can connect you with a cause to help tackle today’s social and environmental challenges.

8. Selwyn Snow Ball: Auditions

The Selwyn Snow Ball 2009 is shaping up to be the best Snow Ball yet, but
we still require one thing - performers! If you have an act that you think
would be great entertainment at the Ball, whether you're a musician,
comedian, circus performer, band, soloist, choir, fire juggler, anything at
all, then we would love to have you audition for the Ball! Auditions will
be held on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm
in Selwyn College Music Room. Please email either twc30@cam.ac.uk or
sc596@cam.ac.uk to reserve an audition slot. If your act is too cumbersome
to transport, we're happy to come and see you! Email us to discuss this.
