CUSU ETHICAL FOOD SURVEY
*Win a bottle of fairtrade wine!*
CUSU Ethical Affairs is conducting a survey into student attitudes
towards 'ethical' food alternatives in colleges, such as fairtrade,
local food and sustainable fish. The results of this survey will be
presented directly to catering managers from your college, so we want to
get as large a sample as possible to give them an accurate picture of
student opinion.
The survey is really short and should take only five minutes to
complete, so please fill it in by following this link:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=Zzzv75mLeWRsLSHqpD1jNQ_3d_3d
Respondents will be entered into a prize draw to win a bottle of
fairtrade wine.
Do it, you know you want to!
Thanks in advance for helping us out.
Best wishes,
Christine Berry and Dan Chandler
(CUSU Ethical Affairs Officers - green@cusu.cam.ac.uk)

LINKLINE IS RECRUITING!
We at Linkline run both a phoneline and a drop in service every night of
Cambridge University full term between 7pm and 7am providing what we
believe is a valuable source of support for students from both
universities within Cambridge. For more information about what we do and
our principles you can visit our website ( www.linkline.org.uk ) or
email me any questions you may have.
If you are interested we would like you to come for a brief chat one
evening of the week starting the 15th October where you can decide
whether Linkline is right for you and you are right for Linkline. If you
would be interested in doing this please let me know and we can set up a
time for you to come by. Just to let you know before this chat we will
send you a short document outlining our principles and a scenario for
you to consider how these fit into a real life situation. This is so
that any discussions we have won't be totally new to you. This sheet
will ask for a couple of sentences about the scenario, which we will ask
you to send back before this meeting. You can look at this sheet on our
website now (http://www.linkline.org.uk/downloads/applicationform.pdf )
and we'll let you know how to get it back to us if you're interested.
If you decide you want to volunteer please bear in mind, since Linkline is
an anonymous service, our volunteers have to keep the fact that they are
members of Linkline a secret. Therefore it may be simpler for you if you
don't mention it to people right from the start. Believe me, back tracking
later can be really awkward!

During the Blitz, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy are evacuated to a big
old house in the country. While exploring, Lucy finds her way into the
magical world of Narnia, where she meets a faun who tells her of the
cruel White Witch, who has cast a spell of perpetual winter over the
land.
C.S. Lewis' classic tale is brought vividly to life in this exciting
musical spectacular, fresh from its tremendously successful run at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
BOOK EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT!
What the critics said:
"**** - there really is such a thing as magic" - Broadway Baby

cast" - The National Student
"**** - this is Fringe theatre at its best - fun, professional, and
well and truly watchable" - Scotsgay

1. Surfing Association Weekend
2. Freshers' 'Flu
1. SURFING ASSOCIATION WEEKEND Like sunshine and beaches..? Want to
discover a fantastic new sport..? A seasoned surfer already..?
Cambridge University Surfing Association is here to help! With a number
of trips under its belt over the last year to Spain, Portugal and
Indonesia (to name only a few), there's never been a better time to get
involved with this growing and enthusiastic society. We have a number of
trips and events coming up this term, starting with a weekend in Devon
or Wales on 12th-14th October.
If you think that experiencing the unbeatable rush of carving across the
face of a thundering wave before chillaxing on the beach with a cool one
might be your bag, get in touch with Rich on rcb44 for more information
or check out our website http://www.srcf.ucam.org/cusa/.
Stay safe kids.
Richard Brimfield
2. FRESHERS' 'FLU
Every term, hundreds of people in the University come down with
"freshers' 'flu" (coughs, colds, and maybe even influenza). If you're
one of them, then there's a research project that wants to hear about
you. Cambridge scientists studying the spread of infectious diseases
would like to know a bit more about patterns of infection within the
University. Go to www.freshersflu.com to fill in a short (2 minutes,
max) survey about yourself (College, course, housing arrangements, that
sort of thing), and win the eternal gratitude of cutting-edge scientists.
Dr Ken Eames (ktde2)
