1. Pembroke HYPNOTIST SHOW

***~HYPNOTIST SHOW~***

WHAT? So Martin Taylor, a pretty darn good hypnotist and magician is coming
to give us a show so as to relieve some stress from revision! His
performance has been described as "hilarious" as well as "compelling" and
even Derren Brown has given him the thumbs up, saying: "The reactions to
Martin's show are overwhelmingly ones of amazment and fascination: he's
easily the best on the circuit!" So its really one not to miss!!

Where? New Cellars, Pembroke College

When? 8.30 - 10pm Tuesday 19th May. Get there in plenty of time though so
as to get good seats!

How much? £5 in advance, £6 on the door (put the money in my pidge -
F.Perry - in an envelope and I'll pop a ticket back in yours)

Hope to see lots of you there

Best wishes and good luck for exams!!

2. You are the best

Amazing friends of Pembroke,

I think it is really important to remind you all of something - you are
at the best college in Cambridge. How come? Every single one of you is
very intelligent, extremely beautiful and each and every one of you is
responsible for the happiness of others which spreads around college and
beyond. It only takes one person to smile at you to brighten up your
whole day. This is why so many people apply to Pembroke now, they walk
around and see all your happiness and smiles and want to be part of this.

A massive thank to all helpers this week. A massive CONGRATULATIONS goes
to *JACK TAVENER* who is our Access Volunteer of the Week. He was
personally nominated by our Schools Liaison Officer Clemency for his
"great enthusiasm", "hard work" and general efforts in leading thirty
14-year-olds around the whole of Cambridge. Well Done!

Things you need to do this week-

1. Please sign up to the Target Schools database if you haven't already.
You are not committing yourself to anything, its just for future
reference. The more people from Pembroke sign up the better chances of
us winning the 'Best College' prize.
Go to: http://www.cusu.cam.ac.uk/prospective/target/volunteers/

2. Apply to be a Student Ambassador for the Access Summer Schools. It's
a really important scheme that encourages many future students to apply
and a great opportunity for you to have some fun in the Summer in
Cambridge. Just let Clemency know if you are interested.

3. Smile. Term is getting very stressful now. But smile. It is important
to remember, you are in the best college, you are the most intelligent,
you are the most beautiful and loads of people want to be you. Take it
upon yourself to remind everyone around you this and Pembroke will stay
the happy, beautiful place that it is.

With much love & happiness, Laura :)

3. Pembroke Mile News

A big thank you and well done to all those who ran the 'Pembroke Mile' at
the end of last term.

The total amount raised was a massive £1508, all of which will go to the
Pembroke African Scholarship Scheme, allowing exceptional students from
Africa the opportunity of financial support to study at Pembroke.

A special thank you to the Master, Bursar and Development Director who
matched the amount raised on the day! Thanks also go to Susan Stobbs, who
presented the wonderful trophy, and all those who helped out and made it
such a success. We´re also really grateful to Andrew Maclean (Pembroke
1985) who sponsored the brunch for the runners and to Richard Beard (also
Pembroke 1985) for inspiring us to organize the event.

The winners were:

Overall Winner: Alastair Cliff
2nd Boy: Rich Heywood
3rd Boy: Owen Weller

1st Girl: Bronwen Derry
2nd Girl: Lizzy Tyler
3rd Girl: Tessa Montague

Best dressed: Dave House (in fully hockey goalie kit!) Commended: Moses
