2. Persuading others to pursue their dreams
Hello amazing Access enthusiasts,
I hope you are having a lovely week. We had a really successful visit on Wednesday for De Lisle Catholic Science School. A M-A-S-S-I-V-E thank you to David Newgas, Katie Anderson, Hannah Baker, Alex Kaitcer, Suzy Pritchard, Rona Anderson-Witty and Rachel Taylor. The visit went spectacularly with lots of happy faces walking around Pembroke and brilliant feedback -
"I never realised people here were so normal"
"I've had such a great day"
"I love it here"
A massive congratulations to *Suzy Pritchard* who is Pembroke's first ACCESS VOLUNTEER OF THE WEEK. Not only did she go all out on Wednesday with her group of students with a massive smile, but she tells me she is on a mission to convert everyone else in Pembroke to helping with Access work. Such a brilliant attitude can only be rewarded by being Access Volunteer of the Week. Take a look at the Access Board (by the JP) to see our star and I'm sure everyone agrees that she deserves the treat that will be waiting in her pidge.
I hope you all have a brilliant Easter and that many of you will be returning to schools in your area to tell them just how fantastic Pembroke is. If you would like any info or tips on how to go about this or what to say when you get there please let me know. I'll so be happy to accompany anyone to their school with them :)
With lots of happiness to you smiley people persuading everyone out there to pursue their dreams, Laura :)

18. GB Rowing
Have you ever thought about rowing seriously? Are you tall and strong?
The GB rowing talent identification programme World Class Start is holding a testing session in Cambridge, at Homerton College, on Wednesday 29th April 1-3pm. Please see attached poster for more information.
This is an amazing opportunity and I would encourage as many of you as possible to attend. Tests will not take long, they consist of a maximum strength arm/legs test on the concept 2 dyno, and a static bike test. We will also measure (height/armspan/weight) all athletes. The tests measure raw potential so no rowing experience is required.
Please spread the word. This is not only for rowers, it could also help encourage non-rowers to take up college rowing next term, if they do well in the tests.
For those of you worried about CUBC Henley 2k trials, 6pm that evening I believe, it will still be valuable for you to turn up and get measured and do the dyno tests. If necessary, the bike test can be done at a later stage.
Feel free to get in contact with me if you'd like any further information.

20. The Triple Helix & G-C Film Soc: Rethinking the Realities of the Spotless Mind
The Triple Helix Cambridge (www.camtriplehelix.com) and the Gonville &
Caius Film Society present:
********************************
"Rethinking the Realities of the Spotless Mind"
Monday 27th April 2009, 7pm
Bateman Auditorium, Gonville & Caius College
FREE ENTRY
******************************
If you could erase someone from your mind, would you? Is it presently
even possible to do this? When first released, Michel Gondry and Charlie
Kaufman's critically-acclaimed 2004 film, "Eternal Sunshine of the
Spotless Mind", sparked popular interest in memory reconsolidation and
its applications. It also raised questions on how neuropsychiatry could
potentially change the way we view ourselves and our minds.
Dr Amy Milton from the Department of Experimental Psychology and
Behavioural & Clinical Neuroscience Institute, University of Cambridge
will be discussing her research interests in this area. Her brief talk
will be followed by the screening of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless
Mind". An informal Q&A session will be held after the event, over
refreshments.
We look forward to welcoming you!

CUR1350, the student radio station for Cambridge and Anglia
Ruskin Universities, was awarded a community FM licence on Tuesday 17th
March 2009, after broadcasting on AM wavelength to Cambridge since 2001.
The station has big plans to revolutionise student life in Cambridge,

societies and sports teams to advice and up and coming events and live
music. The new project will launch on FM radio in Fresher's 2010. Until
then, it will continue to be broadcast on 1350AM and online at
www.cur1350.co.uk . There's never been a better time to get involved in
CUR1350, whether you fancy yourself as a budding radio DJ, talk show host,
or even a 'behind the scenes' role in the committee. (And don't worry if
you will graduate before the CUR1350 intends to switch to FM - alumni can
still remain involved in all aspects of the station.)To find out more go to
www.cur1350.co.uk or email committee@cur1350.co.uk And if your too lazy to
do that, how about just giving it a listen, you never know, you might like
what you hear.
