A testimonial from a current member of Pembroke College Hockey Club:
I absolutely loved Pembroke hockey! It's the perfect way to enjoy the sport without an extreme amount of commitment or pressure, and yet the perfect competitive spirit. I was worried I wouldn't be good enough to play hockey at uni since I hadn't been able to play in my last year of school, but in PCHC it's all about the banter and enjoyment of the sport, not just the skills. And to top it off PCHC has a great, and I mean great social side. I got to make great friends that I may not have otherwise, and have some wonderful laughs.
The PCHC captains are keen that people realise that although they appear on the freshers' schedule as 'try-outs', the first week hockey knock-around is really just a chance for freshers to meet the current team members and see whether they're interested in playing with us - all abilities are welcome and if you come along to training, you'll play in matches, so there's no need to feel under any pressure or worry that you may not be 'picked'.
If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with the ladies' captain Susie (sct45@cam.ac.uk) or mens' captain Andrew (ap662@cam.ac.uk).
