Recycling

Facilities in College

At the moment we can recycle the following within college:

Chimney Court: Paper, cans, glass, plastic bottles, and cardboard.

Foundress: Paper, cardboard, and plastic.

Porter's Lodge: Batteries, printer cartridges, and mobile phones.

Hall: Drinks cans, plastic drinks bottles, and paper coffee cups.

Click here for a map of what can be recycled where. If you have old plastic bags lying around then both Sainsbury's and Tesco have facilities for recycling them. If you'd like to recycle something else but don't know how then please contact me and let me know. I'll do my best to see what can be done.

Recycling in Hostels

The recycling in hostels is done has recently changed. Now all recycling goes into the same container and is separated at the other end. There is still the green bin for compost, but it's your responsibility to take your own food waste out - don't leave it lying around in kitchens! Put all other recycling into the boxes in your gyp room, and hostel keepers will make sure this is taken out and placed in the blue bin.

Green Wardens

Each kitchen in college has a black recycling box for you to recycle paper, plastic, cardboard, and cans. The Green Warden will empty them once a week in the college recycling facilities. In exchange, Green Wardens get a significant discount on their rent. Check the Fire & Environmental Warden page if you'd like to become one.
